This website and interactive map have been developed as part of a larger study at the University of Hull focusing on reducing inequalities in cancer outcomes by geographical location. It has been designed to allow people to explore differences in routes to diagnosis, hospitals attended for diagnosis, and stage at diagnosis for patients diagnosed with lung cancer in Yorkshire and Humber. The maps are populated using aggregated cancer registry data for people diagnosed with cancer between 2013 and 2020.
MapYou can select from different geographical areas in Yorkshire and Humber (e.g., Coastal, Local Authority District, Cancer Alliance, or Middle Super Output Area) from the drop-down box on the map.
To explore differences in lung cancer stage at diagnosis and route to diagnosis you can click on areas on the map and the data box will be updated with data from that area. The main hospitals that were attended for a lung cancer diagnosis from that area will also be highlighted.
To explore differences in journeys to healthcare you can select journeys from the drop-down box. If you then click on the cars that appear on the map you will be given examples of journeys to hospital from these areas.
